Open Day Success
We held an
Open Day on Tuesday 24th March to celebrate the successful merger with Swaingrove and our continued growth. It was great to have so many visitors, plus some of our customers and suppliers trade-stands on site for the day to celebrate the fantastic strides that Gipping Press Ltd has taken over the past year. The event allowed our customers the opportunity to experience the inside of a printing company during a normal working day and to learn about what is involved in producing the jobs that are being completed every day.
Also there was the chance to meet the new expanded Gipping Press team and take part in our printing quiz whilst meeting like-minded local companies and sampling some of the best local produce from local food companies and Niche cocktails.
Guided tour were taken to see the digital printing presses producing business cards, flyers and booklets before witnessing the larger B3 Litho printing presses printing up to 6,000 sheets an hour. The wide variety of finishing machinery that Gipping Press Ltd has in-house was also be demonstrated throughout the day to show different option of folding, binding, lamination and many others.
A big thank you to all who took the time to support this event. Some of the day was captured on video and we hope to have a link here soon.
Exciting News for Gipping Press Ltd
Last Autumn Gipping Press merged with a long-established firm Swaingrove Print, formerly of Rougham near Bury St Edmunds. From October 2014 both companies combined the best of their expertise, experience and equipment together under one roof at our recently expanded Needham Market base. Ideally situated to serve the communities in and around Stowmarket and across the Mid Suffolk area our client base now extends across the country as well as the county and we are proud to be part of the business community of East Anglia.
Below is a picture of the new team taken before our open day on 24th March 2015.
Swaingrove Print have great experience in large format and digital production, which will complement our existing services very well.
Like Gipping Press, the Swaingrove contingent - Greg Ruffell (below right) and Shaun Sivertsen (left) - care about quality and good service. We welcome them to Gipping Press, and look forward to an exciting future.
We were very proud to sponsor the StowFiesta event again this year. Well done to David and all the team at Stowmarket Town Council for putting on such a great event. The photo below is from the event in 2014.
We congratulate our four-colour press operator Paul and his partner Jenny on the safe arrival of baby Marcie Lee Stephenson born on 19th April 2014 at Ipswich Hospital weighing in at 8lbs 6 ounces.
Coffee & Calendars
To celebrate the new year in style we held a 'Coffee & Calendars' event on Friday 3rd January 2014. Thank you to all who took time out to join us during the afternoon. It was good to meet up with some customers we've dealt with via phone/email for many years but have now had the pleasure of meeting face-to-face. It was also great to catch up with many old friends who battled through the wind and rain to receive a warm welcome and opportunity to sample the most delicious sausage rolls we've ever tasted (according to GPL staff members who ate several before the customers even arrived), which came from R J Smith the butchers in the High Street, Needham Market. So much for the new year diets!
For the second year running limited edition calendar we are giving away features Suffolk scenes by local photographer Steve Stoddart, of Wandering River Photography & Videography. If you could not join us then please send us a request for a Calendar by phone 01449 721599 or email to email@example.com
Gipping Press big night out
Last Summer we took a group from GP to the Speedway to cheer on Ipswich 'Sackers' Witches. A great night was had by all with the Witches running out comfortable winners against Glasgow 'Western Commercial' Tigers. It was good to meet some of the stars, and our youngsters (plus a few not so young!) enjoyed cheering the team on the from terraces. Thanks to Chris, Julie and Peter for making us feel so welcome on the night. Thanks also to the 'Sackers' group who welcomed us on their terrace for a chat. We are printing the programmes for the Witches this season and really enjoying working with them.
ISSBA 2013 with the Ipswich Witches
It was great to meet all those who visited us at ISSBA Suffolk Business Exhibition 2013. Our regular stalwarts - production manager Danny Cuff and business student Dan Steed - were there to help on the day as we greeted new contacts, renewed old friendships and chatted to existing customers.
If you missed the exhibition but would like one of our promotional gifts please call in and see us or email firstname.lastname@example.org We also have GP pens, pads, bookmarks and a very few and other goodies available.
We were especially proud to have Leigh Lanham (captain - above right) and Cameron Heeps (left) with us for part of the day. Both ride for the Ipswich Witches Speedway team. Peter Thorpe also joined us to share his vast knowledge of all things Witches. We are delighted to be printing the programmes for all The 'Sackers' Witches home meetings this season and it was very kind of them to join us at ISSBA and bring one of their bikes along to show the visitors. We were able to raise over £20 for Age UK Suffolk who we were supporting on the day by charging a small donation for folk to have their pictures taken with the Witches stars.
We hope to return the favour by taking a group from Gipping Press to cheer the riders on at one of their race-nights soon.
First for Suffolk
We enjoyed taking part in the first StartUp Suffolk Business Development Conference for pre-start, new-start, and growing young businesses which was held at the APEX in Bury St Edmunds in May 2012.
Jon Steed joined a panel of local experts dealing with the subject 'Affordable Marketing for Growth'. Advice on areas such as networking, web development, niche marketing and (of course) sourcing effective print was given.
The event was opened by Sir Norman Tebbit and those attending had access to some excellent information.
